At a time when the world needs to stand together more than ever to overcome the many challenges posed by the pandemic, there are stories that testify to solidarity, commitment and the power of community. One such story is that of the international Planet Zoo community, which has come together in the remarkable "Cangothon 2021" fundraising campaign to help the Cango Wildlife Ranch. As part of this community, I too had the opportunity to make a valuable contribution.
Through the international Planet Zoo community, I became aware of a major fundraising campaign this year, which I was delighted to take part in. This summer I helped to collect donations for the Cango Wildlife Ranch. The pandemic had hit the ranch hard and they urgently needed Help, so that she can continue to look after her animal family.
It all started just over a year ago when Cango Wildlife Ranch suddenly had to close its doors due to South Africa's first COVID-19 lockdown. Some donations were collected, but there were over 4,000 animals to feed and no income from the operation of the Cango Wildlife Ranch. Since tourism in South Africa is still far from recovering, it has been a constant struggle to feed the animals and pay the staff.
The employees at the ranch quickly came up with the idea of using live streaming to raise awareness of the cause and collect more donations. During the first live events, those responsible got to know PaulsLey Gaming, who did not hesitate for long and organized another live event with other volunteers. The result was the Cangothon 2021 streaming event, which formed a large group of streamers who wanted to raise money together under this banner and improve the situation for employees and animals.

When I was asked by the organizers whether I would like to take part in the campaign, I decided to do so without further ado. Since Planet Zoo has been my current main game for over a year and a half, it was all the more fitting - and I was very excited about the Action. Of course, I was also honored that I, as EinfachTommy, am not an unknown creator in the international community.
The pandemic currently has pretty much all industries firmly in its grip and I'm still on short-time working too. It's a stupid situation... and yes, many people are just keeping their heads above water with donations. In any case, I decided to take part in this campaign. The campaign itself ran for several days on many different channels, YouTube and Twitch. On July 22, 2021, we collected together during my livestream for the people and animals at the Cango Wildlife Ranch in South Africa. Of course, I also officially created a small announcement trailer for my livestream, which you can find here. In total, around 7200 pounds were collected and handed over to the Cango Wildlife Ranch. I am incredibly proud to have been a part of this great fundraiser!

Addendum, November 2021: In the other livestreams, I finished building our Cangothon Mini Zoo. The small highlight was that I was able to get Workshop objects was allowed to use. You can find the trailer for this project here - and the link to the project can be found in the video description.
