The First Descendant - Cooperative looter shooter fun

The First Descendant is set in a completely fictional science fantasy world in which the human-inhabited continent of Ingris is threatened by an invasion. Players take on the role of battle-hardened descendants who have been trained solely to protect humanity.

The First Descendant is a Free2Play cooperative online third-person shooter. At first glance, the budding MMO impresses with high-quality graphics based on the popular and powerful Unreal Engine 5. The looter shooter was developed by an internal development team from the Korean-based entertainment studio, which is now based in Japan. Nexon Games developed.

The game is distributed by the parent company Nexon Korea. The graphics, design and background story are deliberately reminiscent of Looter shooter like Destiny. With this new MMO, Nexon Korea has set out to keep pace with the major competitors in the genre right from the start.

Exciting story in a fictional science-fantasy world

The First Descendant is set in a completely fictionalized Science fantasy worldin which the human-inhabited continent of Ingris is threatened by an invasion. Players take on the role of battle-hardened descendants who have been trained solely to protect humanity.

As many shooters do these days, the developers of The First Descendant have enriched their game with role-playing elements. On the one hand, players can tackle a series of side missions with their own smaller stories in addition to the straightforward missions from the main campaign. Secondly, the game includes a weapon and equipment-based system for upgrades and abilities that players can use to gradually make their characters stronger in order to complete increasingly difficult missions.

Classes about classes with different focuses

In addition to the modern graphics, The First Descendant features a large number of classes and characters that can be selected. All characters can be equipped with up to three primary firearms and additional secondary weapons. However, the developers are not only focusing on a large selection of weapons. Players can also customize their characters with Equipment and items which unlock various abilities, including defensive and protective ones. In addition to fighters with attacks based on fire, ice or electricity, there will also be helper classes such as medics.

The third-person shooter also relies on a high degree of mobility. All characters have a grappling hook, which players can use to pull themselves up to elements in the game world as well as enemies at lightning speed. The first gameplay scenes from the official trailer show these elements in combination with each other and suggest fast, tactical firefights.

Co-op mode for up to four players

The First Descendant is designed for four players to play together at the same time. Especially in the Boss battles A joint strategy is required against huge monsters. For example, players can tactically select different body parts and attack together with concentrated firepower to severely weaken bosses. Successful boss battles are rewarded with particularly powerful new weapons and items that players can share among themselves.

For fans of cooperative online shooters with a penchant for science fantasy, this new MMO could be just the thing. But thanks to the Free2Play system, all other shooter fans can also easily get an impression for themselves.

My first impression

And it was good... I actually couldn't have imagined that a looter shooter, which also has a very straightforward structure, could be so much fun. Admittedly, I wouldn't have watched The First Descendant on my own, as I'm less of a Fan of shooters am. Thanks to the invitation from Nexon Games, I was able to take a look with Enz Reviews.

The session lasted a good three hours, during which we explored the central city, among other things. It is quite clearly laid out and reminded me of Diablo 2 in a way. In every corner there is a merchant or a trader, a weapon master or various characters who have a few quests left.

In addition to the detailed city, we explored the world and entered levels that we could not enter with our current level. Nevertheless, this gave us a good first impression.

Even if Nexon is not seen in a good light by some players, just to mention "pay to win" for example, The First Descendant convinced me. Admittedly, there won't be 50 hours of gameplay on my account afterwards. As an old player of simulation, strategy and RPG games, I will still be spending a few evenings with friends on Ingris.
